01 Aug Meet the California Document Preparers Team: Jacqueline Bui
Jacqueline Bui, in our Oakland office, is our August Employee of the Month. Jacqueline has taken a circuitous route to the Bay Area. Both of her parents are from Vietnam, but didn’t meet until the late 70s after they had immigrated to Pennsylvania. Jacqueline was born in Hershey and grew up in a small town outside the capital called Linglestown. When she was 15, her family moved to Texas to be closer to relatives. She graduated from high school and went to San Diego State University, did some travel in Japan and Brazil and graduated with a BA in Economics in May 2014. She began working at California Document Preparers the following November.
More education in Jacqueline’s future
“I do intend to go back to school eventually for a PhD or Masters Degree in economics or justice studies, but I’d like to get a Legal Document Assistant certification as well.” Jacqueline has a younger brother and two older sisters, one of whom is a graduate student at USF where she studies international relations and higher education. Two cousins live in the area as well.
When Jacqueline’s not working, she admits that she “watches more TV than is probably good for me”, hikes, and likes to explore Oakland and San Francisco with her sister and boyfriend. “We go to a lot of concerts and my sister is always finding new and weird things to try.” Jacqueline loves to collect books, so she hangs out at used bookstores like the Bookmark Bookstore downtown, enjoys baking and plays the piano. “We just moved to a new place so we’re pretty busy with that, but once I’ve freed up more time, I intend to travel, study for the GREs and perhaps pick up an activity.”
Enjoy being part of our Oakland community
“I was a recent graduate, wrestling with the job market, and I realize that I was very lucky to find this job. I have a short commute and we’re located in such a lively, beautiful part of Oakland. My own particular job responsibilities as a document processor and the diverse customers that are part of our community keep my work interesting. Everyone in my office is amazing and they’re all such kind people, it really makes me glad to be here.”
